Key Takeaways That I’ve Learned From My 37th Year of Life

As I look back from a point of reflection on my 38th birthday, I am met with a wave of joyous, tearful emotion.

A year ago, I posted to my IG feed, declaring that year 37 would be like no other year. It would be a year of unknowns, yet figuring it out along the way and rising triumphantly in the end. I can say with conviction and certainty; this year was precisely that for me. πŸ’₯πŸ’₯πŸ’₯

Year 37 has been the year of letting go, having faith, exploration down unknown paths, taking ownership, trusting myself, connecting with my inner world, all while enjoying this beautiful thing called life πŸ‘ŒπŸ½πŸ˜Š. It's been one hell of a year, with much growth and awareness of myself and my surroundings. Fears were conquered, a business started, I discovered my purpose, moved multiple times in a foreign land, developed friendships, and most importantly, found myself πŸ’— the best gift I could ever give me!

When people say you can't completely change your life around in a year, my reply would be, give it a try; you may just blow your own mind! You are the only one standing in your own way.

Here are some of my key takeaways from what I've learned during my 37th year on earth:

  • You just never know what's around the corner and what the universe has in store for you. (i.e., coronavirus pandemic – shutting down the world in 2020, who would've thought this would've happened?!)

  • You can still thrive in your life without having everything planned and all figured out. Taking action will always move you forward.

  • Finding peace within myself is the best gift I could ever ask for, and it's ultimately something that requires conscious effort each day.

  • Letting go of the past is not only important; it's essential to move forward freely.

  • Only when you come face to face with yourself will you start fully living.

  • I don't need "things" to be happy; I prefer a simple life surrounded by natural beauty and new experiences. The best things in life are free, and I get to enjoy them with each new day. Things like the clouds in the sky, the beautiful flowers, the trees, sunsets, and just admiring the beauty that is around me. If you take time to be present to it, you can start to appreciate these gifts from the universe.

  • I am 100% exactly where I'm supposed to be, and the only competition I am in is the one I place with myself, not with anyone else. My timing is my own, and I have learned to trust that timing.

  • I am enough, and everything I have within me is all that I will ever truly need to connect with my greatness.

  • Gratitude is every day job, and I've never been more thankful than I am now.

  • Realizing that the true meaning of life is not just about what I can accomplish for myself but also about how I can serve and impact others along my journey.

As for 38, there are even bigger shoes to fill; these visions scare the heck out of me; they are so big, but I will say it again, lots of work ahead, but still, I SHALL RISE. πŸ”₯ They say if your dreams don’t scare you they’re not big enough and I would πŸ’― percent agree with that.
